Working closely with the HR team, Dolphin Software created and managed a specialist qualitatively focused survey seeking executive and staff views on the whole of government Indigenous Employment and Career Development Strategy as it had been implemented in this Agency.
The survey, potentially confronting in its design and in its results and strongly advocated and supported by the CE, was positioned as a start to a conversation rather than a “normal” survey or data gathering exercise. A close effective working relationship with HR and with internal marketing and communications delivered close to 70 % response rate from the 460 staff within a few days.
Customised automated reporting for the whole organisation and for Divisions was delivered through HR to the CE and his Executive Division heads and Branch Directors, with a strategic briefing to the Executive Leadership Group on results, values, participation and actions including debriefing strategies with staff. This was backed by a debrief kit prepared by Dolphin Software and a risk assessment matrix.
Execution of the 2008 staff survey project, including all 700 staff with a survey sponsored by the CE. Supply of customised automated reporting to CE, Executive, Division and Branch Directors, and a close effective working relationship with internal marketing and communications to achieve 70 % response rate within a few days (chocolates on seats helped).
Briefing of the Executive Leadership Group on results, participation and debriefing strategies for work groups, and preparation of a debrief guide or kit. Briefing to the HR managers about their role in supporting the leadership/ work groups conversations about their results, situating these conversations in a strategic and operational context.
In 2007 Dolphin Software managed the data acquisition and reporting processes for the Chief Minister’s Literacy Awards across the NT, enabling the Award nomination through web forms of a child from every class from Transition to Year 9 in public schools across the Territory.
In 2008 this was extended to every non government school and Dolphin Software again managed the process.
Dolphin Software supplied reports to each school confirming nominations, checked the accuracy of each record with DET held schools data (in partnership with DET staff) and supplied nominated student data to the Government Printing Office in the required format, in school batches matching the schedule for end of year school awards ceremonies.
Dolphin Software also worked closely with DET Literacy staff and the Internal Communications Unit on communications strategy, personal schools based contact and on newsletters content, enabling 100 % participation by all government schools and 95% participation by non government schools across the NT.
Over the years since 1996 Dolphin Software has supplied Organisation Development Corporate with surveys and reporting for organisational culture (sent out by CEO ) and for annual reviews of the effectiveness of performance management plans / processes, across Caltex Australia’s national corporate and refining workforce.
Dolphin Software has also supplied People Learning and Development services (including 360 feedback Leadership Capability surveys) for other divisions such as Marketing (for 40 executives), and for Supply and Corporate Services (25 executives) from 2004- 2007
Caltex Australia OD and HR is a great example of Dolphin Software working with an organisation over time to tailor a suite of HR tools to specific business needs, and deliver them.
In 2007 Dolphin Software had supplied customised surveying and reporting services to the Retail Division – one project gathered feedback from 400 participants in an annual Merchandising Conference evaluating satisfaction with all aspects of the event and its related seminars.
In late 2008 Dolphin Software supplied Caltex Australia’s retail Division with a customised electronic survey for Retail personnel across the country, following up on a year’s experience with an upgraded SAP module, and focusing on satisfaction re value to work and on training.
